Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 7 Gen 3
Recently, Qualcomm has officially launched its Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 mobile platform, bringing a host of improvements in performance and efficiency. The new chipset, built on TSMC’s advanced 4nm process, boasts a redesigned CPU architecture featuring four large cores and four small cores.
The CPU configuration includes a powerful 2.63 GHz core, three 2.40 GHz cores, and four 1.80 GHz cores, contributing to a 15% increase in CPU performance compared to its predecessor Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Complementing this, the Adreno 720 GPU powers the platform, delivering a remarkable 50% boost in GPU performance while reducing overall power consumption by 20%.
Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate the platform’s support for gaming super-resolution, enhancing energy efficiency by up to 13% during intensive gameplay, as demonstrated in a 30-minute 120fps HD display of Honor of Kings.
The AI capabilities of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 platform see a substantial 90% increase in overall performance and a 60% improvement in energy efficiency. Notably, it introduces INT4 precision to the Snapdragon 7 series, promising a more robust AI experience. In AI face detection scenarios, the platform achieves a 15% increase in accuracy, even in situations like wearing a mask.
On the imaging front, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is equipped with a triple-ISP design, similar to the Snapdragon 8 series. It supports up to 200-megapixel photo capture, AI pixel rearrangement, AI noise reduction, 4K computed HDR capture, and features like Dolby Vision and spatial audio.
Connectivity is another highlight, with the Snapdragon X63 5G modem providing Dual SIM Dual Pass-DSDA support for download speeds of up to 5Gbps. The FastConnect 6700 mobile connectivity offers Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E support for peak download speeds of up to 2.9Gbps, along with Bluetooth 5.3 and LE Audio support.

The upcoming Honor 100 series is set to debut with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, showcasing the platform’s capabilities. Additionally, Vivo and other device makers are poised to adopt this advanced mobile platform, emphasizing Qualcomm’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge features to a broader consumer base.
Christopher Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Handset Business at Qualcomm Technologies expressed excitement about the platform, stating, “The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 mobile platform has been carefully designed to balance performance and power efficiency to deliver a range of new high-end experiences first supported in the Snapdragon 7 family.”
As the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 sets the stage for next-generation smartphones, consumers can anticipate enhanced AI functionality, exceptional imaging capabilities, and an overall superior mobile experience.
