Xiaomi HyperOS System Architecture and Goals
Xiaomi’s Lei Jun has just taken to social network to unveil the comprehensive system architecture of Xiaomi HyperOS, shedding light on the four fundamental goals driving its design.
The first goal of HyperOS is to achieve unparalleled single-end performance, setting the stage for a powerful and efficient operating system. This commitment to performance is realized through a fusion kernel, which brings together the Linux native kernel and Xiaomi’s own Vela kernel. This fusion optimizes performance scheduling, task management, memory management, file management, and more, resulting in remarkable improvements in efficiency.
The second goal involves AI empowerment, positioning HyperOS as the “intelligent brain” of the Xiaomi ecosystem. It’s designed to actively provide services to users and equip devices with strong AI capabilities, making every individual device smarter.
HyperOS’s third goal is to enhance convenience and efficiency in connection. It achieves this through the unification of connection protocols and real-time communication across all devices, fostering seamless interaction and building a “people, cars, and family ecosystem.”
The fourth and final goal is to ensure comprehensive privacy and security protection. HyperOS is engineered to fortify privacy and security from end to end, instilling confidence in users that their data and information are safeguarded.
The system architecture integrates more than 200 processor platforms and supports over 20 file systems, ensuring exceptional compatibility and performance optimization across a wide range of hardware.
At the service and framework layer, Xiaomi retains Android services while integrating its self-developed Vela system. This approach creates a dynamic framework, with eight subsystems including a powerful AI subsystem that acts as the core of the entire system.
