Sony PlayStation Portal Remote Play and New Audio Headsets
In an exciting announcement, Sony has introduced the PlayStation Portal Remote Play, a handheld device designed to enhance the gaming experience for PS5 users. Formerly known as “Project Q,” the PlayStation Portal Remote Play is set to change the way gamers interact with their console.
Priced at USD 199.99 or 219.99 EURO, the PlayStation Portal Remote Play is tailored for home gamers seeking versatility. The device can be paired with the PS5 to enable seamless game streaming, a feature referred to as “remote play.” Sporting an 8-inch LCD screen boasting 1080p resolution at 60 fps, the handheld guarantees stunning visuals. The joystick offers adaptive trigger and haptic feedback support, immersing players in gameplay like never before.

Sony’s statement indicates that the PlayStation Portal Remote Play is ideal for those who need to share a living room TV or prefer gaming in different areas of their home. Through Wi-Fi connectivity, the device easily communicates with the PS5, allowing gamers to transfer their ongoing game from the console to the Portal. It’s important to note that the PlayStation Portal Remote Play is compatible with “supported games” installed on the PlayStation 5.
The package includes a dedicated DualSense controller, complete with a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio. However, it’s worth mentioning that the device does not support certain PS VR2 games that require a headset or cloud-streamed games from PlayStation Plus Premium.

Accompanying this groundbreaking release are Sony’s new audio accessories—the Pulse Elite wireless headset and the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These devices introduce the innovative PlayStation Link wireless audio technology. The Pulse Elite headset boasts lossless audio and incorporates AI-enhanced noise suppression with background sound filtering. It’s accompanied by a convenient charging hanger for effortless storage and charging.

Meanwhile, the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds make their debut under Sony’s SIE banner. Equipped with dual microphones and AI-enhanced noise suppression, they also offer lossless audio support. The inclusion of custom-designed planar magnetic drivers ensures an audiophile-quality listening experience reminiscent of professional audio engineers’ premium headphones.
One of the most notable features of these audio accessories is their compatibility with the PlayStation Link wireless audio technology. This technology establishes a low-latency, lossless audio connection with the PlayStation Portal Remote Play or PS5. Additionally, it facilitates seamless audio transmission across multiple PlayStation Link hosts.

The Pulse Elite wireless headset is priced at USD 149.99 or 149.99 EURO, while the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds are set at USD 199.99 or 219.99 EURO. Although the launch date for these accessories is yet to be announced, gamers can anticipate an unparalleled audio experience.
It’s important to mention that the PlayStation Link wireless audio technology necessitates a USB adapter. This standalone adapter will be available separately for use on PCs and Macs, providing users with even more flexibility.
