Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Performance Improvements

This year’s Snapdragon Technology Summit will be live by Qualcomm in Hawaii, USA, from November 15-17, local time. As expected, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will make its official debut.

In the previous few years, the Snapdragon 8 Series chipset upgrade strength was a bit weak, coupled with power consumption and heating problems. But this time, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 performance improvements look very prominent.

Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Performance Improvements

According to the report from Ice Universe, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will improve CPU performance by 10% with energy efficiency by 15%. The GPU performance improved by 20%, AI performance by up to 50% and ISP performance also improved notably compared to the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. What’s more, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will completely solve the heating problem.

In terms of technical specifications, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 has a “1+2+2+3” 4-cluster architecture. Among them, the ARM Cortex-X3’s clock speed is 3.2GHz, Cortex-715 and Cortex-710’s clock speed is 2.8GHz, and Cortex-510’s clock speed is 2.0GHz. And the GPU is upgraded from Adreno 730 to Adreno 740.

In terms of baseband, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will use Snapdragon X70, which will support peak download speeds of 10Gbps 5G and bring new and advanced features such as quad-carrier aggregation, Qualcomm 5G AI Suite, and Qualcomm 5G Ultra-Low Latency Suite.

Now, several major cell phone manufacturers have started testing Snapdragon 8 Gen2, and the results are satisfactory. Xiaomi 13 Series phones are among them and are already on the network. Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will not release until November, so Xiaomi has plenty of time to tune Snapdragon 8 Gen2.
