Samsung 16GB GDDR6 Memory
Samsung Electronics today announced that Samsung’s first 16GB GDDR6 (Graphics Double Data Rate 6) memory with 24Gbps processing speed has started shipping.
It uses Samsung’s 3rd-Gen 10nm (1z) process and Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) technology. The new memory is designed to significantly improve graphics performance in next-generation graphics cards, notebooks, gaming consoles, artificial intelligence-based applications, and high-performance computing systems.

“The explosion of data now being driven by AI and the metaverse is pushing the need for greater graphics capabilities that can process massive data sets simultaneously, at extremely high speeds. With our industry-first 24Gbps GDDR6 now sampling, we look forward to validating the graphics DRAM on next-generation GPU platforms to bring it to market in time to meet an onslaught of new demand.” said Daniel Lee, Executive Vice President of the Memory Product Planning Team at Samsung Electronics.
Samsung’s 24Gbps GDDR6 is said to feature an innovative circuit design and highly advanced insulation to minimize current leakage, resulting in a 30% speed increase compared to previous 18Gbps products. When integrated into high-end graphics cards, it can transfer up to 1.1TB of data in one second, equivalent to approximately 275 Full HD movies.
