MIUI 12 New Feature
Google was previously spotted working on a double-tap gesture feature on the back of the phone that would allow users to launch the camera, Google Assistant, play and pause music, and other functions on Pixel devices with Android 11 if they double-tap the back of the device.
Apple has already successfully implemented this feature in iOS 14 and allows users to double and triple tap on the back of the phone to initiate various actions. Now it seems that Xiaomi MIUI 12 is working on a similar feature as well.
According to a report by XDA Developers, code in the latest MIUI 12 beta suggests that Xiaomi is also working on a tap gesture feature on the back of the device. The code inside MIUI 12 suggests that the feature is under active development.
The scope of the back double and triple tap gestures within MIUI 12 currently appears to be limited to taking screenshots, turning on the flashlight, launching Control Center, launching the camera, or opening the Notification Center. However, since the feature is not yet available to the public, Xiaomi may be expanding the scope of this feature. It is not yet known when Xiaomi will release this feature to users and hopefully, it will go live soon.
