Upcoming Features of the OPPO Find X7

The latest revelation from OPPO’s chief product officer, Pete Lau, has sent waves through the tech community. The upcoming features of the OPPO Find X7 series promise to push the boundaries yet again. Lau’s teaser OPPO Find X7 image showcasing the “5GA” signal bar hints at a groundbreaking addition: support for 5G-A, also dubbed “5.5G” – a first in the industry.

But what exactly is 5G-A? It represents a significant upgrade to the existing 5G network, operating alongside it to meet the demands of advanced applications. With features like passive sensing, passive IoT, and endogenous intelligence, 5G-A is set to revolutionize connectivity, seamlessly integrating human, IoT, and vehicular connections. This next evolution promises a tenfold increase in network capabilities, with speeds reaching up to 10 Gigabit downlink + Gigabit uplink.

Interestingly, this leap forward isn’t just for flagship devices. Smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen3 or MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 processors (depending on OEM’s implementation) are poised to support 5G-A networks, bringing enhanced connectivity to a wider range of users.

China Mobile’s ambitious 5G-A commercial plan, announced at MWC 2024, underscores the momentum behind this technology. With plans for deployments in over 300 cities by 2024 and full commercialization targeted by 2026, the era of 5G-A is on the horizon, and OPPO is leading the charge with the Find X7 series.
