Polestar Phone Design Uncovered
Swedish electric car manufacturer Polestar recently sent ripples through the tech community by unveiling its foray into the smartphone realm. The company, revered for its innovative approach to sustainable mobility, teased its upcoming smartphone, aptly named the “Polestar Phone,” during an event, revealing a glimpse of its exterior design in a short video.
The unveiled snippet showcased a design reminiscent of the Meizu 20 series, featuring the distinctive Polestar logo adorning the back and a camera module accented by a protective ring crafted from Swedish gold. Notably, the phone’s design language seems to draw inspiration from the aesthetics of Polestar’s cars, further accentuating the brand’s unique identity. Additionally, the Polestar brand name is elegantly inscribed along the side of the device.
The video culminated with the appearance of Star Chronicle Meizu Group’s Chairman and CEO, Shen Ziyu, confirming a connection with the Meizu 20 series of phones, hinting at a partnership or shared design elements.
Reports suggest that the Polestar Phone will integrate with Polestar cars, running the Polestar OS intelligent cockpit system. Observers noted a semblance between the user interface of the Polestar Phone and Meizu’s FlymeOS, signifying a potential technological collaboration.
Differentiating the Polestar Phone from Meizu’s offerings, Shen Ziyu emphasized its position as a “high-end smartphone,” drawing a comparison to Huawei’s Porsche Design series, highlighting a targeted price point of 10,000 yuan. This positioning aims to elevate the device to a prestigious level akin to luxury smartphone variants.
Clarifying the lineup, Shen Ziyu disclosed plans for a single model, distinct from Meizu’s diverse range, positioning the device specifically for Polestar car owners and enthusiasts as part of the overall Polestar lifestyle experience.
Polestar’s plunge into the smartphone domain not only signifies an expansion beyond electric vehicles but also hints at an innovative approach to integrating technology into the realm of automotive experiences. The official launch in December is highly anticipated, offering enthusiasts a glimpse into the convergence of technology and mobility within the Polestar ecosystem.
