LG Display, a pioneering technology company, has teamed up with Starbucks to introduce an innovative, futuristic addition to the coffee giant’s arsenal – a striking 8-meter-long ‘Transparent OLED Table’ at their Yeosu Dolsan DT store. This latest endeavor marks a significant stride in blending cutting-edge technology with the essence of cultural experiences.
Part of Starbucks Korea’s ‘THE stores’ initiative, this transparent OLED table, comprising 12 55-inch transparent OLEDs, stands as a centerpiece on the store’s first floor. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this table presents an interactive experience for visitors: when cups are placed upon it, sensors trigger a mesmerizing wave effect around the cup, delighting customers and setting a unique tone for their visit.
The allure of this collaboration has been nothing short of remarkable. The Yeosu Dolsan DT store quickly became a local attraction, drawing in over 20,000 visitors within its first 10 days of operation, maintaining an impressive average of 2,000 visitors daily on weekdays.
LG Display’s transparent OLED technology, now being mass-produced for the first time globally, demonstrates its unique ability to project light from individual pixels while providing an unparalleled view beyond the screen. Its capacity for accurate color expression and design freedom adds a new dimension to spaces, further enhanced by its low heat emission and the tempered glass’s durability, ensuring its adaptability to diverse settings.
This milestone collaboration isn’t the first for LG Display and Starbucks. Previously showcased at the Shinsegae Universe Festival and K-Display 2023, this innovative technology has consistently been at the forefront of pioneering new customer experiences.
In a statement, Junho Yeo, Head of the Solution CX Group at LG Display, emphasized their commitment to pushing the boundaries further. He expressed their intent to broaden the transparent OLED lineup to include 77-inch and 30-inch options, facilitating a wider array of choices for consumers.
With this successful partnership, both LG Display and Starbucks continue to break new ground in blending technology and cultural experiences, promising a future filled with endless possibilities and innovative collaborations across various industries.
