Google Pixel Fold Durability Test Results
In a recent video by Jerry Rig Everything, the Google Pixel Fold durability was put to the test, revealing several concerning issues. The examination uncovered vulnerabilities such as insufficient screen protection, susceptibility to breakage and bending, an inclination to accumulate dust, and the tendency to leave burn marks.
One of the key findings from the test involved the device’s response to heat exposure. When subjected to an open flame, the outer screen of the Google Pixel Fold managed to withstand the heat for approximately 15 seconds. However, the inner screen exhibited a shorter endurance, failing after just 8 seconds. Subsequently, the device automatically shut down, and upon restarting, a warning message regarding high temperatures was displayed.
The dust test further highlighted the device’s weak dustproof capabilities, as it proved susceptible to the ingress of sand and other particles. This vulnerability raises concerns about the overall durability and long-term functionality of the Google Pixel Fold.
The bending test yielded noteworthy results, indicating that when the Pixel Fold was folded in the opposite direction, a considerable portion of the internal screen was easily damaged. Additionally, the test revealed ruptures in the antenna line, possibly due to inadequate protection for folding components. These findings underscore potential concerns surrounding the device’s ability to withstand everyday usage without compromising its structural integrity.
While the Google Pixel Fold represents an ambitious foray into the realm of foldable smartphones, these durability challenges emphasize the need for improvements in crucial areas such as screen protection, resistance to extreme temperatures, dust proofing, and reinforced folding mechanisms. Addressing these concerns will be essential for Google to ensure that the Pixel Fold offers a robust and reliable user experience.
As technology advances, it is important for manufacturers to continually refine and enhance their products to meet the expectations of users. It remains to be seen how Google will respond to these durability issues and whether subsequent iterations of the Pixel Fold will address the identified shortcomings.
