iPhone 15 Pro Max Shakes Up Camera Design
Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone 15 Pro Max is set to make waves in the smartphone market with its exclusive periscopic telephoto lens. This innovative feature sets it apart from its predecessors, as the periscopic telephoto system is known for its complexity and relatively larger internal space requirements. To accommodate this advanced technology, Apple has made significant adjustments to the lens position.
Taking a closer look at the iPhone 14 Pro‘s lens layout, we find the 48-megapixel main camera situated in the upper left corner, the 12-megapixel telephoto lens in the upper right corner, and the 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens positioned at the lower bottom. However, on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple has decided to switch the positions of the periscopic telephoto lens and the ultra-wide angle lens.
To achieve this reconfiguration, Apple has ingeniously incorporated a trigon inside the phone. This trigon is responsible for altering the path of light propagation as it enters the camera. By folding the light and guiding it into the camera sensor, Apple has managed to position the telephoto sensor horizontally within the device, resulting in an extended focal length.
Thanks to the addition of the periscopic telephoto lens, the iPhone 15 Pro Max boasts an impressive 6x optical zoom capability. This is a significant improvement over the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 3x optical zoom, making it the first Apple phone to feature this cutting-edge telephoto technology.
But that’s not all the iPhone 15 Pro Max has to offer. It will also come equipped with a ProMotion display that supports refresh rate adaption, ensuring smooth and fluid visuals. Powering the device is the Apple A17 Bionic chip, a highly capable and efficient processor that promises enhanced performance and improved energy efficiency.
