Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series Display
Samsung is set to release its next-generation smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, with an upgraded screen size and resolution. The company had already made headlines earlier by switching from Tizen to Wear OS for its smartwatch operating system, but this time around it is focusing on improving the visual experience for its users.
According to popular tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy Watch 6 series display will come with an increased screen size and resolution. The 40mm version of the Galaxy Watch 6 will feature a 1.31-inch display with a resolution of 432 x 432 pixels. This is a significant increase from its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 5, which had a 1.2-inch screen with a resolution of 396 x 306 pixels.
Similarly, the 44mm version of the Galaxy Watch 6 will boast a 1.47-inch circular OLED screen with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels. In comparison, the 44mm version of the Galaxy Watch 5 had a 1.4-inch screen with a resolution of 450 x 450 pixels.
The 40mm version of the Galaxy Watch 6 will have a 10 percent larger screen size and a 19 percent higher resolution than its predecessor, while the 44mm version will see a 5 percent increase in screen size and a 13 percent increase in resolution.
The increased screen size and resolution are expected to provide users with a slightly sharper visual experience, despite the larger screen size. It is still unclear whether the new displays will be powered by a more powerful chipset or not.
