Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Weight and Thickness and Colors
Samsung’s much-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 5 is generating excitement among tech enthusiasts with the latest leaks and reports revealing some interesting details about the upcoming foldable flagship phone. According to recent reports from ETNEWS, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be lighter and thinner compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
One notable improvement is the weight of the device, with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 reportedly weighing in at 250 grams, which is 13 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Samsung has set internal targets to further reduce the weight of the final commercial version, as the current test prototype weighs 254 grams. This weight reduction could potentially make the Galaxy Z Fold 5 more comfortable to hold and use for longer periods.
Another significant improvement is the thickness of the device when folded. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be only 13.4mm thick when folded, compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which had a thickness of 14.2mm. This reduction in thickness could make the device more pocketable and easier to carry around.

One of the key design changes in the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the hinge. Samsung is rumored to have done away with the traditional U-shaped hinge and opted for a new teardrop-shaped hinge design. This new hinge design reportedly eliminates the gap between the two sides of the folded phone, allowing for a thinner profile when folded. The absence of a gap between the screens could also result in a more seamless and polished appearance.
Despite these improvements, Samsung has reportedly decided not to include the S Pen with the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This is due to the device’s reduced thickness and internal space limitations. The S Pen, which is a popular feature in Samsung’s Galaxy Note series (now the S series’ Ultra), would require additional space for storage and usage, which may not be feasible with the thinner design of the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
In addition to the technical specifications, color options for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 have also been leaked. According to Ross Young, the CEO of DSCC, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be available in Beige, Black, and Light Blue color options. While Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be available in Beige, Gray, Light Green, and Light Pink along with some bespoke and lower-volume colors.
