Sony ZV-E1 Features, Specifications, And Price
Sony has officially released the ZV-E1, which is the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame interchangeable lens vlogging camera. The camera weighs only 483 grams including the battery and supports 4K 60fps video recording.
The ZV-E1 comes in two colors, black and white, and will be available for sale in mid-April 2023. The suggested retail price for the camera body only is 2,199 USD, while the suggested retail price for the kit with the FE 28-60mm F4-5.6 full-frame standard zoom lens is 2,499 USD.
According to the official introduction, the Sony ZV-E1 uses a full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor with approximately 12.1 megapixels. The camera offers a wide dynamic range of 15+ stops, enabling it to capture natural and clear images in different lighting environments and reproduce the rich details contained in highlights and shadows.
The ZV-E1 is equipped with the BIONZ XR image processing engine, which provides about 8 times the performance of the previous generation, allowing for more delicate detail reproduction and rich color restoration. The processor can also handle the large amount of data generated by the image sensor in real-time, even when shooting high-frame-rate videos in 4K format.
In addition, the addition of the BIONZ XR image processing engine, AI significantly improves autofocus speed and accuracy. The camera features an AI-powered chip that supports advanced subject recognition autofocus and high-precision real-time tracking, providing users with greater flexibility and reliability when shooting photos and videos.
Sony ZV-E1 can be used with all Sony E-mount lenses, including the G Master lens series. The focal length range is from 12mm to 1200mm, providing users with a wide range of lens options for creative visual expression.
The ZV-E1 features a new convenient movie-like vlog setting that allows users to create story-like visual effects with one click. By choosing from 5 different Looks and 4 different Moods, users can easily achieve their desired movie-like effects. In addition, the 24/25fps frame rate and the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with top and bottom black bars further enhance the cinematic feel of the images.
The ZV-E1 inherits the S-Cinetone color science from the Sony movie camera system, which shows natural and healthy skin tones with a natural intermediate tone to achieve a more outstanding movie effect.
The camera’s built-in 5-axis stabilization unit combined with optimized gyroscope sensors can achieve a 5-level stabilization effect. Even when shooting handheld with E-mount lenses that do not have stabilization, users can easily obtain clear and stable images. The dynamic stabilization enhancement mode is about 30% more efficient than previous models, making it easy for users to shoot smooth and stable vlog videos even when moving.
The ZV-E1 has a viewfinder stabilization function that uses AI-powered subject recognition technology and dynamic stabilization enhancement mode to keep the subject stable in the center of the frame during handheld shooting and to obtain smooth images when following or circling the subject.
The ZV-E1 camera supports 4K 60fps video recording and can be upgraded to 4K 120fps/FHD 240fps with a firmware update. The camera also features a microphone jack and a headphone jack, allowing users to monitor audio and adjust settings to ensure high-quality sound recording. In addition, the camera supports wireless communication and can be used with a smartphone for remote control and file transfer.
