Chinese smartphone companies Redmi and OnePlus are set to release limited edition co-branded smartphones with unique back shell designs. The Redmi phone will be co-branded with Harry Potter, while OnePlus is releasing the Jupiterite Limited Edition of the OnePlus 11.
The OnePlus 11 Jupiterite Limited Edition features a never-before-seen material in the 3C (cell phone) industry, 3D microcrystalline rock. The material required the development of a new production line from scratch to mass-produce, due to its extreme difficulty in processing. In addition, the production efficiency for this material is only one-fourth of glass, and the yield is only half that of glass.
According to Li Jie, president of OnePlus Mobile China, the material’s unique texture and feel required the development of nine exclusive processes, including “natural texture” to ensure maximum expression of Jupiter’s beauty and romanticism. Each piece of the back cover is hand-picked to ensure the beauty of the texture.
The OnePlus 11 Jupiterite Limited Edition’s back shell design aims to break the shackles of industrialization and standardization to make each phone unique and one-of-a-kind.
The limited edition smartphones reflect a growing trend in the smartphone industry towards unique, eye-catching designs that stand out in a crowded market. OnePlus has previously led the way with its unique back case materials, such as synthetic baby skin, bamboo, black apricot, sour branch, aramid fiber, ebony, and ceramic.
