According to recent reports, the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, set to launch in the second half of 2023, may feature a solid-state button design similar to the home button of the iPhone 7, 8, SE2, and 3.

This design change would replace the physical and mechanical buttons currently found on the iPhone. Taptic Engines, located on the internal left and right sides of the iPhone 15 Pro models, would provide force feedback to users, giving the impression of pressing physical buttons.

Cirrus Logic is said to be the primary winner of this design change, as they are the exclusive supplier of Taptic Engine’s controller ICs for solid-state buttons. If the design is well-received by users, it could potentially be adopted in other high-end models across product lines in the future.

In addition to eliminating physical buttons, the iPhone 15 series may also eliminate the lightning port and adopt a USB Type-C port, similar to the charging ports found on Android phones. This change is said to be in line with the EU’s and India’s announcement of a unified USB-C port.

The camera system on the iPhone 15 Pro is also said to be receiving a notable upgrade. The new design and features of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are still unconfirmed by Apple, but these updates are expected to generate a lot of expectations and anticipation among consumers.
