Samsung Excluding Galaxy S24 Plus from Galaxy S24 Series launching next year
Samsung Electronics is reportedly reviewing its plans for its upcoming Galaxy S24 series of flagship smartphones. According to The Elec, Samsung has excluded the Galaxy S24 Plus model from the series and is now considering splitting the line into two models: a regular model and an Ultra model. The decision to exclude the Galaxy S24 Plus is believed to be due to lower sales share in the series.
The development project for the Galaxy S24 series, known as “DM,” has two development tasks: DM1 and DM3. However, there is no known development task for a middle model, which suggests that Samsung may be excluding Galaxy S24 Plus model. Initially, the project was planned to include three models, but in recent discussions, the DM2 development task has been omitted.
Finalizing the DM project for the Galaxy S24 series will take time, but Samsung is expected to strongly review the release plan to launch two Galaxy S24 series models. However, due to the production of parts for the series set to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, the plan may change to allow for an early release next year.
It is worth noting that this move comes amid a global smartphone market that has recently stagnated and a flagship phone market that is becoming increasingly polarized. This has led some experts to suggest that Samsung’s decision to focus on a smaller number of models with the Galaxy S24 series is a strategic move to better compete in a challenging market.
