Qualcomm Becomes Biggest Beneficiary of iPhone SE 4 Cancellation
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, is known for his notable prediction of Technology trends. Today further extended his reports regarding the upcoming iPhone SE 4, which is now not coming.
According to previous reports, Apple Inc. planning to launch a budget-friendly and power-packed iPhone SE 4 in 2024. The supply chain instructions from Apple indicate that the production and shipment plan for iPhone SE 4 (2024) have been canceled rather than delayed.
Not just that, Apple also initially planned to equip an in-house baseband chip on iPhone SE 4 due to inferior performance than Qualcomm’s baseband. Based on the low-end iPhone SE 4’s development status, Apple expected to use in-house baseband chips in premium iPhone 16 Series phones in 2nd half of 2024.
The cancellation of the iPhone SE 4 significantly increased the chances of Qualcomm remaining the exclusive supplier of baseband chips for the 2nd half of 2024’s new iPhone 16 Series phones, which is better than the market consensus that Qualcomm will start losing iPhone orders in 2024.
Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Qualcomm will keep continuing to dominate the high-end smartphone RF (baseband) market in 2023 and 2024 at least, which will also lead to markedly higher profits than its competitors.
The company’s strong product mix, which confers competitive advantages, is expected to mitigate the negative impacts of the economic recession and allow Qualcomm to return to solid growth ahead of its competitors once the economy recovers.
