OPPO is Developing a Smartphone Application Processor
As a leading smartphone manufacturer, in addition to the smartphone, OPPO also worked hard in the field of semiconductors and launched a self-researched MariSilicon Y Bluetooth audio-specific chipset following the previous MariSilicon X imaging NPU.
Now, OPPO working on a smartphone application processor, according to industry insiders. The Mobile Chip Master broke the news that OPPO is developing a smartphone application processor, planned in the second quarter of 2023 to try to stream, and will be mass produced in the third quarter, using TSMC 4nm process, with external MediaTek 5G baseband.

It is reported that the OPPO chip R&D center project site on December 27th was successfully announced. Two new industrial lands (M0) plots in Jiaochengwan, Dongguan Binhaiwan New Area were taken by OPPO’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Dongguan OPPO Communication Technology Co.
The land will be used for the construction of a chip R&D center, chip experimental test center, semiconductor equipment research center, 5G terminal R&D center, artificial intelligence R&D center, etc. The total investment is planned to reach 4.5 billion yuan.
Chen Mingyong, founder and CEO of OPPO, has said: “The chip thing is something we hold the purpose and must do, and it must be done well. We have never hoped for a miracle, precisely because a good chip is difficult to do, we need more step-by-step, solid forward. No matter what happens in the future, it makes sense for OPPO to do the chip thing.”
