Through the tireless efforts of Huawei and Xiaomi, Leica, which originated in Germany, has become one of the most famous professional camera brands in the market in just a few years.

Now Softbank announced the Leitz Phone 2, a smartphone supervised by Leica and manufactured by Sharp, as a SoftBank brand exclusive. The Leitz Phone 2 even made it to the front page of Leica Camera’s Japanese website.

The Leica Leitz Phone 2 is reportedly similar to the Sharp R7 phone in most of its configurations. The camera reflects Leica’s uniqueness in its exterior design, wallpaper, and home screen widgets, and the camera is equipped with Leitz Looks, which is a shooting mode originally developed by Leica.

The Leitz Phone 2 comes in one color, Leica White, which is claimed to be inspired by the Leica M8 White Limited Edition. The bright white exterior is complemented by a silver chrome frame, and the sides have a knurled design commonly used for cameras, which provides a non-slip effect when shooting.

As a unique element of the Leitz Phone series, the phone is emblazoned with Leica’s red “Coke logo” and comes with an original Leica magnetic lens cover and a silicone case with the Leitz logo.

The Leitz Phone 2 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor, a 47.2-megapixel one-inch main camera, and a 2-megapixel depth-of-field lens with full-pixel phase difference focus and two times faster-focusing speed than its predecessor.

In addition, the Leitz Phone 2 features a 6.6-inch 240Hz Pro IGZO OLED screen with 12GB + 512GB storage and an expandable memory card of up to 1TB. It has a 5000mAh battery, supports wireless charging, dual SIM cards, IP65/68 water and dust resistance, and fingerprint/facial recognition.

In terms of the most crucial camera features, Leica Leitz Phone 2 offers Summilux 28, 35, and Noctilux 50. Among them, Summilux 28 is used to take impressive photos during sports, Summilux 35 is used for daily street art photos, and Noctilux 50 is used for daily street art photos. The “Noctilux” is perfect for portraits.

The Leitz Phone 2 will reportedly be available in Japan on November 18 at 225,360 yen, about 1,30,800 INR.
