Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and Dimensity 9200 Comparison
This month, Qualcomm and MediaTek will release their respective flagship chipset to power upcoming Android premium phones.
To uncover full details, MediaTek 9200 flagship chipset is scheduled for release on November 8, and Qualcomm holds Snapdragon Summit on November 15-17, 2022 for Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset.

With the unveiling of the new generation mobile platform, it is expected that major cell phone manufacturers will follow suit and announce the launch of phones equipped with the new platform.
Such as the Vivo X90 Pro which is a dual platform of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and MediaTek Dimensity 9200, while the Xiaomi 13 Series and Motorola Moto X40 seem to have only Snapdragon 8 Gen2.
To differentiate between Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and Dimensity 9200, Weibo blogger Digital Chat has now announced the Specifications comparison of this chipset. Let us take a look together:
- SM8550: Snapdragon 8 Gen2
- Process: TSMC 4nm,
- Cores:
- 1 × 3.19GHz X3
- 2 × 2.8GHz A715
- 2 × 2.8GHz A710
- 3 × 2.0GHz A510
- GPU: Adreno 740
- MTK DX2: Dimensity 9200
- Process: TSMC 4nm
- Cores:
- 1 × 3.05GHz X3
- 3 × 2.85GHz A715
- 4 × 2.0GHz A510
- GPU Immortalis-G715 MC11
In other words, both new platforms are built on TSMC’s latest 4nm process, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 uses a 1+2+2+3 quad-cluster with Adreno 740 GPU design, while the Dimensity 9200 is a regular 1+3+4 tri-cluster with Immortalis-G715 MC11 GPU.
It should be noted that the above parameters are different from the Geekbench score revealed some time ago, which brings another mystery. The score site shows that the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 has a mega-core main frequency of 3.36GHz, one explanation is that Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 may have an extreme version.
In terms of performance, both Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and Dimensity 9200 have enough GPU power to beat the newest Apple SoC – A16 Bionic. We have already shared, Dimensity 9200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen2’s benchmarks showing improvements.
