MediaTek Dimensity 1080 Full Specifications
Today, MediaTek officially announced the mid-range 5G mobile platform – Dimensity 1080, the chip is further enhanced in performance, imaging, display, and other aspects of performance.
According to the introduction, MediaTek Dimensity 1080 is the iteration of Dimensity 920, using TSMC 6nm process and eight-core CPU architecture design. It includes two main frequencies of 2.6GHz Arm Cortex-A78 cores, six frequencies of 2GHz Arm Cortex-A55 cores, and GPU for Arm Mali-G68. It provides a smoother experience in applications such as gaming, streaming media playback, and web browsing.
This chip focuses on mid-range performance and low power consumption, engineering machine AnTuTu Benchmark score of about 520,000 similar to the Snapdragon 778G.
It is worth mentioning that the Dimensity 1080 is equipped with MediaTek’s Imagiq ISP image processor, which can support up to 200-megapixel main camera (The previous chip support 108MP), and also integrates a hardware-level 4K HDR video recording engine to provide excellent dark-light shooting effects.
It has MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 gaming engine, thanks to MediaTek’s third-generation APU, which can further optimize the platform’s energy efficiency when gaming. In addition, the Dimensity 1080 supports Sub-6GHz 5G full-band high-speed network and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
The first batch of phones is expected in the coming weeks and will debut with Redmi Note 12 Series, followed by Honor’s new mid-range phones.
