iPhone 15 Pro Max Adopt Periscopic Telephoto Lens
The upcoming iPhone 14 Series phones are yet in rumors, industry insiders already started digging iPhone 15 and 16 series. According to the report, Apple’s camera supply chain will enter two consecutive years of high-speed growth cycle due to iPhone 15’s adoption with high unit price periscope design.
This means that after adopting 48 megapixels camera on this year’s iPhone 14 Pro series, Apple will also continue to make notable changes to the iPhone 15 Series, which will bring new possibilities to iPhone’s triple camera system.
Ming-Chi Kuo said that, in 2023, iPhone 15 Pro Max will adopt a periscopic telephoto lens, and in 2024, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max both will pack a periscopic telephoto lens, with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 having similar specifications for a periscopic telephoto lens.
iPhone’ periscopic telephoto lens specifications include sensor size of 1/3-inch, 12MP resolutions, f/2.8 aperture, sensor shift stabilization, and 5-6x optical zoom. As compared to iPhone 13 Pro’s 3x optical zoom, iPhone 15 Pro Max double this capability.
According to Kuo, the full periscope lens module includes 1 glass lens, 2 plastic lenses, and 2 prisms with a lens barrel. This will result in a higher cost for the camera module.
In addition, Ming-Chi Kuo said the iPhone camera module supply chain will enter two years of rapid growth thanks to the adoption of higher-priced periscopic telephoto lenses for Apple’s iPhone.
