Qualcomm Shift to TSMC For 2023-24
Following the previous prediction about Samsung Galaxy S23 Series, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo broke the news that TSMC is responsible for OEM Qualcomm’s 5G flagship chips in 2023 and 2024, and will be Qualcomm’s exclusive supplier, which is a win-win for both companies.
Ming-Chi Kuo also pointed out that Qualcomm has been a customer of Samsung’s most advanced process. Previously Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and Snapdragon 888 were OEMed by Samsung, and Qualcomm’s shift to TSMC now means TSMC’s advanced process is leading the way until at least 2025.
My latest survey indicates TSMC will be the sole supplier of Qualcomm flagship 5G chips in 2023 & 2024. It’s a super win-win for these two companies.
Qualcomm had been Samsung’s most critical advanced-node customer. Qualcomm’s move means TSMC’s advanced node advantages will markedly lead Samsung until at least 2025.

It is easy to speculate from the news that the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and the third generation Snapdragon 8 Gen3 will both be OEM’d by TSMC. The Snapdragon 8 Gen2 is officially tipped to be released in November this year.
