Snapdragon 8 Plus Official Now
At Snapdragon night, Qualcomm officially released Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 and 7 Gen1. Among them, Snapdragon 8 Plus is by far the most powerful mobile platform in the Android camp. The platform is based on Snapdragon 8 Gen1, as evidenced by the naming, and it has become almost a practice for Qualcomm to launch a Plus version in the second half of each year.
Unlike the past, this year’s Plus version not only boosts the frequency but also changes the foundry, built by TSMC 4nm process, while power consumption is further optimized.

In terms of Snapdragon 8 Plus specifications, it is still 1 + 3 + 4 three clumped architecture, the CPU part consists of a very large core Cortex X2 (3.2GHz), large core Cortex A710 (2.75GHz), and small core Cortex A510 (2.0GHz), and the GPU is Adreno 730 (900MHz±).
The official data shows that compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen1, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 has improved the overall CPU performance by about 10%, and the GPU frequency is not yet announced, just that the frequency has increased by about 10%.
Of course, the most important thing is the power consumption, according to the introduction, Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 in the same performance, CPU, and GPU power consumption is reduced by 30% (compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen1), this figure can be said to be quite amazing.
At the same time, the overall SoC has also achieved a reduction in power consumption, compared to the overall power consumption of Snapdragon 8 Gen1 by 15%, it is said that in addition to the CPU and GPU, Qualcomm has also made adjustments to other modules, thus reducing the Snapdragon 8 Plus power consumption.
According to the official measured data, based on the equal battery capacity, the Snapdragon 8+ version is going to increase the gaming time by almost an hour and video playback by more than 80 minutes compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen1.
In summary, Snapdragon 8 Plus performs as its name suggests, with both CPU and GPU frequencies increasing, making a small improvement in overall performance, while power consumption has been further optimized.
It is expected that in June or July, we will see the Snapdragon 8 Plus-based terminals listed one after another, and the performance competition in the second half of the year will kick-off.
At the same time, Xiaomi President Wang Xiang said that Snapdragon 8 Plus is never a simple half-generation of small upgrades, but a real experience of great innovation, Xiaomi and Qualcomm have been working together for several months, and the new platform has a very beautiful power performance, to achieve a double breakthrough in performance and power consumption.
Wang Xiang finally announced that Xiaomi’s new flagship will be the first to carry the new generation of Snapdragon 8 Plus platform. In addition, Realme GT2 Master Explorer Edition, and Motorola’s new foldable are also confirmed with the new SoC.
