Samsung Z Series Foldable Patented with Sideways Folding Display
In recent years, the smartphone market of foldable displays has been gradually accepted by consumers. We have experienced inward, outward, and up-down foldable display schemes. Now Samsung is said to be interested in new foldable form factors.

Recently, Samsung applied for a patent for a new foldable display phone solution. From the rendering made by Jermaine Smit and Letsgodigital, the whole phone looks very unique with a sideways folding style.

From the patent content, when the phone is completely folded, there is not much difference with the appearance of ordinary phones, and when the phone is open, the screen can be extended to the top left, so that the screen is out of an extra piece, look very sci-fi.
It is said that the solution has a clever hinge built into the side of the frame, and if the screen is accidentally bent too far, the hinge will not break easily. In addition, the screen uses UTG ultra-thin glass and three magnets to prevent the flip display from coming loose from the back.
Although it looks very cool, it is hard to imagine the actual application scenario, as not all patents will be applied to the final product.
