BlackBerry Sold Patent Worth 600 Million USD

According to the report from Reuters, BlackBerry said on Monday that it has reached an agreement to sell legacy patents related primarily to mobile devices, messaging, and wireless networks to Catapult IP Innovations Inc. for $600 million.

The Waterloo, Ontario, Canada-based company said the deal does not include patents that are critical to its core business. BlackBerry will still be licensed the patents sold, and customers’ use of its products or services will not be affected in any way.

The patents are mainly related to mobile devices, messaging and wireless networks, and the deal will not affect the use of BlackBerry’s products, solutions, or services, Reuters mentioned.
