Samsung Exynos 2200 Debuts on January 11
With the release of Snapdragon 8 Gen1, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000, means that the semiconductor process began 4nm progress, except that the two foundries are different, respectively, Samsung and TSMC. In addition to Qualcomm and MediaTek, Samsung as a foundry is also preparing its 4nm flagship chip, the Exynos 2200, which is now slated to hold a new launch on January 11, 2022.
The latest revelations say that the Exynos 2200 uses the same triple-cluster architecture as the Snapdragon 8 Gen1, with the CPU part consisting of a 2.59Ghz X2 mega-core + three 2.5GHz A78 mega-core + four 1.73GHz A55 small cores. This time Exynos 2200 GPU and Qualcomm/MediaTek are not the same, the continuation of the previous generation of AMD GPU, based on the RDNA 2 architecture to build, is said to improve performance by 17% to 20%.
At the same time, there is news that the Exynos 2200 positioning main game performance, the highlight of the GPU, but considering the previous generation is now, this time it seems to be still less than the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Adreno 730. In addition, there are reports that the chip’s CPU performance has only improved by 5% compared to the previous generation, a somewhat unsatisfactory improvement.
By past practice, the Exynos 2200 was launched worldwide by the Galaxy S22 Series, but in some markets, the Series is still equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 platform. However, the current exposure is based on the performance of the previous engineering version and does not represent the final listing effect, the production version may be enhanced again.
