MIUI 13 Upgrades
Xiaomi officially announced that Xiaomi 12 series will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chip. Xiaomi Zeng Xuezhong said, the team in many aspects of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 deep tuning, in the camera/smoothness/battery life/heat/and signal breakthrough again, so the MIUI system also upgraded to MIUI 13.
In today’s morning, MIUI 13 official announcement, determined to be released at 19:30 on the evening of the 28th, and Xiaomi 12 Series on the same site. The poster seems to reveal some design elements of MIUI 13, including curves, squares, and circles, perspective, flattening, colorful, etc.
This time MIUI 13 has quite a few upgrade points. In the microblogging, Lei Jun also launched a poll to collect the tendency of netizens on MIUI improvement points, before the deadline, “smooth not card” ranked the most, followed by “fewer bugs, fix bugs fast”, and again “good-looking and easy to use interaction”.
Behind the smoothness, is the core technology breakthrough of the underlying OS. Compared with MIUI 12.5 enhanced version, the smoothness of system applications and third-party applications are significantly smoother.

Xiaomi MIUI 13 three core technologies of focus computing, atomic memory, and liquid storage are comprehensively upgraded. Here is what new upgrades of MIUI 13 experience:
Behind the smoothness is a breakthrough in the underlying core technology of the operating system
MIUI 12.5 enhancement version introduces corresponding optimization technologies focus computing, atomic memory, and liquid storage for three core system scenarios: processor scheduling, memory management, and I/O.
- Focused computing prioritizes the processes that are most obvious to the current user perception according to the scenario, and suppresses unimportant applications in the background.
- Atomic memory splits application memory, prioritizes the end of unimportant tasks, and finely compresses memory usage.
- Liquid storage is highly sensitive to monitoring the degree of fragmentation, significantly improving the efficiency of fragmentation and making the phone as good as new for a long time.
In MIUI13, these three core technologies have been upgraded comprehensively, bringing a significant improvement in system smoothness.
System smoothness is improved comprehensively
MIUI, together with Thiel Labs, has built a fluency evaluation model for user control scenarios and traction optimization targets. After half a year of optimization, the fluency of MIUI 13 in the head application usage scenario has improved by 15% to 52% compared with MIUI 12.5 enhanced version. The system application smoothness is improved by 20%~26% compared with MIUI 12.5 enhanced version.
There are also several high-frequency usage scenarios where the frame drop rate drops by more than 90%. This improvement also makes MIUI 13 ranked first among all grades of phones in the Lu Master Android smoothness evaluation.
Focus Computing 2.0
Behind the dramatic improvement in fluency is the strength of support from Focus Computing 2.0. In MIUI 12.5 enhanced version, Focus Computing raises U rendering priority for the core scenes that are most obvious to current users’ perceptions and concentrates computing resources to reduce frame drop rates.
The focus computing 2.0 used in MIUI 13, the system not only senses core scenes such as full-screen gestures but also tilts computing resources toward core system applications and core third-party applications, significantly improving the smoothness of these applications in use.
Meanwhile, liquid storage and atomic memory are also adapted for the latest platforms, and the background residency remains strong, with reading and write performance decaying by less than 5% after 36 months of continuous use, making it as good as new for a long time.
