Xiaomi MIX FOLD 2 with UTG
Recently, according to ItHome, Samsung will provide Xiaomi’s next-generation MIX FOLD 2 with UTG (ultra-thin flexible glass) foldable panel, the technology has currently been used in products such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
UTG (Ultra-thin Flexible Glass) is a glass production technology developed and commercialized by Samsung, which ensures the flexibility of glass and enhances flexibility and durability by injecting special materials into an ultra-thin glass that is only 30 microns thick during processing.
The main advantage of UTG over traditional reinforced glass is its ability to fold and its flexibility, which allows it to be used in folding screens for cell phones and later in other electronic products.
Compared with the PI (polyimide film) screen commonly used in domestic folding screen phones, the biggest advantage of the UTG material screen is to solve the “vase” problem of foldable display phones, which makes the use of UTG material folding-screen phones will no longer need to protect the flexible screen as the main design difficulties.
At present, UTG glass screen is still the main supplier to Samsung, but domestic manufacturers have also begun to strengthen the technical reserves and production share in this field. So far, there have been several domestic screen manufacturers that said they will be put into the production of UTG glass screens, some of the faster progress has been completed the construction of production lines, I believe that after we will be able to see the domestic UTG glass screen in cell phones to be used.
