Besides the AR Glass, the first NPU chip developed by OPPO, Mariana MariSilicon X, was released today during the OPPO INNO DAY. Based on the new gold architecture concept of DSA for the future AI era, the Mariana MariSilicon X brings unprecedented real-time AI computing power efficiency, industry-leading Ultra HDR capability, lossless real-time RAW computing, and RGBW Pro for maximizing sensor capability through its innovative IP design and 6nm advanced process, achieving a new standard in computational imaging with chip-level technology breakthroughs.

For this naming, OPPO founder Chen Mingyong explained that it is derived from the deepest part of the world’s oceans – Mariana Trench, as a way to show that OPPO’s self-research chip road is beyond imagination.

Mariana MariSilicon X is built using TSMC’s 6nm process and is an NPU chip, mainly used for imaging, and is the world’s first 6nm imaging-specific NPU for mobile. According to the official introduction, this chip has unprecedentedly powerful AI computing energy efficiency, integrated self-researched AI processing unit MariNeuro, AI arithmetic power up to 18 trillion AI calculations per second.

OPPO also compared the iPhone 13 Pro Max equipped with the A15 chip, the data shows that the OPPO MariSilicon X AI arithmetic power is better, is the world’s top level. Specifically to the ground, MariSilicon X can reach 11.6 trillion times per second per watt performance, which is another improvement of cell phone NPU.

It also integrates the MariLumi image processing unit, which is completely self-developed by OPPO, supporting 20bit bandwidth; and supports the ultra-dynamic range of Ultra HDR at 20bit, which is four times the capability of the current state-of-the-art general-purpose platform.

At the same time, the first time to achieve the separation of RGB and W processing claimed to improve 8.6dB signal-to-noise ratio and 1.7 times the resolution, and finally, the official announcement will be in the first half of next year mass production of commercial, with OPPO Find X Series.
