In today’s evening, Honor held an imaging technology conference to reveal the true depth of Honor Magic 3 Series’ camera, computational photography, Honor Image Engine, and optimization. At beginning of the event, Zhao Ming, CEO of Honor, took the stage to deliver the keynote speech.
According to Zhao Ming, before the Honor brand restarted, the market share had fallen to a low of 3%. However, the debut of a series of new machines is winning more and more consumer recognition and recovering lost ground.
When the Honor Magic 3 series was launched on August 12 this year, Honor’s share climbed to 14.6%, and today the latest figure has come to 16.2%. By deconstructing different high-level algorithms, separating the strategy engine, and reconstructing the image process to make greater efficiency, the combination of software and hardware integrates and builds end-to-end imaging capabilities under different platforms.

Honor officially launched the latest imaging technology – multi-master fusion computational photography, while through RGB, grayscale, spectrum, depth, and other multi-dimensional information comprehensive optimization, the industry’s first time to do the whole lens involved, the whole focal length fusion computational photography.
Honor CEO Zhao Ming said that the future direction of cell phone photography is: basic image quality compared to professional equipment, scene optimization compared to the retoucher, expression creation compared to the photographer.
Honor released the Magic3 series in August this year, when the HONOR Image Engine computational photography platform was launched, the technical underpinnings to complete the three major capabilities of software optimization, which can unify the image style across chip platforms.
According to the introduction, the main camera fusion computational photography can balance the contradiction between the sensor size upgrade and the thickness of the whole machine. Subsequently, through powerful arithmetic to fuse the two images, the higher pixel image taken by the main camera will fill in the details in the center area, which can improve the center sharpness by 80% and enhance the picture quality of ultra-wide-angle photos.
To avoid hard transitions after fusion, the Honor Magic3 series is also equipped with an intelligent smoothing algorithm that intelligently adjusts the smoothing area to avoid hard transitions, making the fused photo look more natural and smooth as if it was originally a picture.
In addition, the Honor Magic3 series also supports the fusion of color main camera + telephoto lens, just like the fusion with ultra-wide angle, can improve the clarity of the central part of the main camera through the telephoto lens, can improve the clarity of the image shooting 54 ~ 94mm focal length, thus significantly increasing the image quality of the portrait focal length, clarity can be improved by up to 180%.
