Samsung will release the next-generation flagship processor Exynos 2200 in the second half of the year, the biggest highlight is the integration of AMD RDNA architecture GPU, graphics performance will be greatly improved. This is the first time the smartphone SoC integrated AMD RDNA architecture, so both performance and power consumption, are very much anticipated.

According to the Korean website Clien, the GPU of the Exynos 2200 processor is codenamed “Voyager” and will integrate 6CU for the flagship S series with 384 stream processors at 1.31GHz. Sources say that thanks to the powerful AMD RDNA architecture, the GPU performance of the Exynos 2200 will surpass that of the A14, or even be significantly ahead.

Following Samsung’s practice, the Galaxy S22 series flagship in the United States, the national version is equipped with Qualcomm’s flagship chip (expected Snapdragon 898), Europe, Southeast Asia markets on-sale version is equipped with Exynos chip.

However, there are reports that the U.S. operator Verizon requires the U.S. version of Samsung’s flagship to use the Exynos 2200 instead of the Snapdragon 898, for reasons unknown, presumably because the former has a bit more performance.

In other parameters, the Exynos 2200 is built using Samsung’s 4nm LPP process, and the CPU uses the Armv9 instruction set architecture. The current rumors of Exynos 2200 performance are quite high, which also shows the industry’s expectations and trust in AMD RDNA architecture, but ultimately whether this is the case or not, after all, also consider heat, power consumption, and stability.

According to the extended report, Samsung will also use AMD mRDNA on mid-range segment A series. However, there will be differences; the mid-range chips will be a 2CU configuration, and the A series’ flagship chips will be a 4CU configuration and clock speed is around 1Ghz in testing.
