MediaTek Surpassed Qualcomm Again
Thanks to the Dimensity series of chips, MediaTek finally overtook Qualcomm and successfully bucked the trend, with second-quarter consolidated revenue up 16.3% sequentially and 85.9% year-on-year. At the same time, MediaTek’s second-quarter earnings continued to be high, hitting another record high, all under just one series of Dimensity, earning a lot of money.
Recently, Counterpoint Research released its Q2 smartphone processor shipment report, announcing the market share of smartphone processors in the second quarter of 2021. In this, MediaTek once again ranked first with a 38% share, becoming a veritable global largest smartphone chipset manufacturer, Qualcomm followed second, with a 32% share, Apple is located in the third, with a 15% share.
The report said MediaTek Dimensity 700 series dominated in the 5G field, while Helio P35 and G80 were popular in the LTE field, thus helping MediaTek to reach 38% share. The data graph given by Counterpoint Research shows that MediaTek managed to overtake Qualcomm since Q3 last year, and since then, in the three quarters, MediaTek has continued to maintain the lead and secure the first position. Also noteworthy is HiSilicon, from 12% share in the same quarter last year, continued to fall to 3% today, the reasons are well known, not to say much.
