200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP1 Specifications and Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GN5 Specifications


Today, Samsung officially launched the first 0.64µm pixel-based 200Mp resolution image sensor ISOCELL HP1, and the first dual Pixel Pro image sensor ISOCELL GN5 with all-around focus technology. The Samsung ISOCELL HP1 offers industry-first 200MP resolution based on 0.64 µm-pixels and new pixel-binning technology, ChameleonCell, while the Samsung ISOCELL GN5 is a super-slim 1.0µm 50MP sensor with elevated autofocusing.

SAMSUNG ISOCELL HP1 is Samsung’s first mobile image sensor supporting 200 megapixels (200MP), based on Samsung’s 0.64μm technology.

For ultimate low-light photography, the ISOCELL HP1 features an all-new ChameleonCell technology, a pixel-binning technology that uses a two-by-two, four-by-four, or full pixel layout depending on the environment. In a low-lit environment, the HP1 transforms into a 12.5MP image sensor with large 2.56μm pixels by merging 16 neighboring pixels. The newly formed 2.56μm pixel is capable of more light absorption and sensitivity, producing brighter and clearer photos indoors or in the evening. In bright outdoor environments, the sensor’s 200-million pixels can capture ultra-high-definition photography on mobile devices.


To pursue the dark light shooting effect, ISOCELL HP1 adopts the new ChameleonCell technology. As a pixel synthesis technology, it can be used in 4×4, 2×2, or full pixel mode depending on the usage environment. In poor lighting conditions, the ISOCELL HP1 transforms 16 adjacent pixels into a 12.5Mp image sensor with 2.56μm large pixels by combining them. The combined 2.56μm large pixel absorbs more light and has higher sensitivity.

ISOCELL HP1 is capable of shooting 8K video at 30 frames per second (fps) and can reduce the resolution to 50Mp or 8192 × 6144 by combining 4 adjacent pixels to shoot 8K (7680×4320) video without cropping or reducing the full image resolution.

On other hand, Samsung ISOCELL GN5 is the first Samsung 1.0μm image sensor to integrate Dual Pixel Pro, an all-around autofocus technology that enhances autofocus performance. By placing 2 photodiodes in each pixel of the sensor horizontally or vertically, Dual Pixel Pro technology can recognize pattern changes in all directions ISOCELL GN5 also applies Samsung pixel technology FDTI (Front Deep Trench Isolation) to Dual Pixel (Dual Pixel).

50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN5 Specifications

Samples of the ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL GN5 are now available from Samsung. The actual products will be available to the public for the first time at the Samsung Future Technology Forum SFTF 2021, expected to be firstly equipped on Xiaomi 12 digital series.
