Samsung Eco2 OLED
Samsung held a Galaxy new product launch on August 11, officially released a new flagship foldable display phone Galaxy Z Fold3. The machine supports IPX8 waterproof and is equipped with an under-screen camera, support the S-Pen stylus.
Samsung Display today announced that along with the Galaxy Z Fold3 comes a new generation of low-power OLED screens that are energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly enough.
It is said that the Eco2 OLED screen compared to conventional OLED display, can reduce power consumption by another 25 percent and improve light transmission by 33 percent.
The Eco2 OLED technology was first applied to the foldable display on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3, which also contributes to the application of UPC (Under Panel Camera). Samsung Display says that with the increased light transmission of the display, it can provide more light to the camera module inside the panel, thus ensuring the application of UPC-based technology.
According to Samsung Display, the polarizing plate, which is an opaque plastic sheet, is a part that increases the visibility of the OLED display by preventing light coming from outside the panel from hitting the electrodes between the pixels and being reflected. In general, when light passes through a polarizing plate, the brightness decreases by more than 50%, resulting in reduced light efficiency.
Samsung Display emphasized that the industry has made various attempts to overcome the shortcomings of polarizers, and Samsung Display succeeded in developing technology that improved light efficiency while internalizing the polarizer function for the first time in the industry.
Samsung Display Eco2 OLED recently completed trademark applications in seven countries including Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and Japan. Eco 2 OLED contains the meaning of eco-friendly parts that reduce the use of plastic parts as well as low power consumption.
