Huawei Mate X Rollable Patent
Although Huawei is getting more and more difficult in the field of smartphones but did not give up on the innovation of cell phones. According to the latest breaking news brought by Letsgodigital, Huawei’s new cell phone design patent was recently approved, the patent shows a similar to Xiaomi’s MIX Alpha like the wrap-around screen design phone, and the screen can also be retracted, a bit like the wrap-around screen and retractable/rollable screen combined.

The patent, which Huawei filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on January 31, 2021, was approved on Aug. 5, 2012, according to the Letsgodigital. “Huawei Mate X Rollable” Letsgodigital emphasized this design.
Looking at the patent, the shape of the phone in the patent is quite similar to Xiaomi’s concept MIX Alpha, with a wrap-around screen design. But what is very different from it is that the phone also incorporates the current rollable screen feature where the screen can be retracted.

The phone on this patent uses a POLED screen, and the phone has a total of three screen adjustment modes: normal use state, unfolded, and fully unfolded, which can adjust the size of the screen according to the user’s needs. When the screen is fully unfolded it can be about 70% larger than when it is not on display, which means that the 6.5-inch phone screen can be stretched to 11 inches.
As the next trend in the development of cell phone screen form, several cell phone brands have already shown their scroll screen phones. However, since this is only a phone design patent, it is not yet known whether Huawei will be able to mass-produce the phone, but it certainly represents Huawei’s further thinking about the future of screen form.
Although Huawei is now very limited in terms of chips, this does not prevent Huawei’s innovation in the form and structure of the phone, and following the development of the current cell phone screen, maybe we really may see Huawei release this phone one day.
