MediaTek Helio G88 and Helio G96
As 5G has not yet been popularized globally, so Qualcomm MediaTek and other manufacturers are still updating their 4G chips. Today, MediaTek launched Helio G88 and Helio G96, 4G processors, respectively, an upgrade of G85 and G95. They focus on enhanced display and photo functions, including high refresh rate and high pixel camera.
Specifications, Helio G96 with eight-core design, including two main frequency of 2.05GHz Cortex-A76 core amount of six 2.05GHz A55 compositions, GPU integrated Mail-G57 MC2. From the point of view of parameters, Helio G96 rather than the previous generation G95, but the main upgrade lies in the advanced features.
MediaTek G96 in terms of display, this processor supports 120Hz refresh rate at FHD+ resolution, compatible with LCD and AMOLED panels, supports 108MP sensor, but video shooting is still limited to 4K/30fps. The Helio G96 also features Bluetooth 5.2, LPDDR4X-2133 + UFS 2.2 support,eMMC 5.1, and HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming technology.
G96 supports a single 108MP camera or two 16MP cameras, built-in triple ISP, support face detection, hardware depth of field engine, single/double shot background bokeh, AINR intelligent noise reduction, 3DNR noise reduction, multi-frame noise reduction, rolling shutter compensation, electronic stabilization, etc.
The Helio G88 is a lower version of the G96, also with an octa-core design, including two Cortex-A75 cores at 2.0GHz, support for 90Hz refresh rate and 64MP lens, and dual 4G support. Memory support LPDDR4X-1800, maximum capacity of 8GB, storage support eMMC 5.1.
MediaTek Helio G96 and Helio G88 processors both are positioned in the low-end and mid-range handset market, the most important thing is to support a high refresh rate, to popularize this feature a step further, and handset manufacturers are expected to launch smartphones powered by these two processors in a few months.
