Not long ago, MediaTek released the Dimensity 5G open architecture, which can collaborate with cell phone manufacturers to provide customization for smartphones, which is currently supported by Dimensity 1200.

Recently, OnePlus announced the upcoming release of the new Nord series OnePlus Nord 2 5G. According to the official announcement, OnePlus will be the first to be equipped with MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200-AI custom chip.

Unlike the previous release of the Dimensity 1200 model, the OnePlus Nord 2 uses a customized version of the Dimensity 1200-AI chip, with significant upgrades in AI.

Specifically, manufacturers can freely customize ISP, AI, wireless connectivity, including customizing the workload allocation of various processing units such as CPU and GPU within the chip, thus fully scheduling more available resources.

In the case of cameras, for example, device manufacturers can directly access the image processor (ISP) to set up optimized effects based on their chosen parameters, camera sensors, and software.

The so-called Dimensity 1200-AI has enhanced AI capabilities for improving the experience of taking photos, supporting the recognition of 22 different scenes and enabling automatic color grading/contrast adjustment for their corresponding scenes, etc., which helps improve imaging in low-light environments.

For video, officials say it supports real-time HDR, and DOL-HDR (Digital Overlay High Dynamic Range) will help users automatically fine-tune video content to bring the best quality and color accuracy. In addition, the Dimensity 1200-AI also benefits the screen display and enhances gaming performance, but the details of what is stronger are not detailed.

Through deep customization, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G will bring a whole new experience to use. The poster shows that the OnePlus Nord 2 emphasizes AI, indicating that the AI performance of the OnePlus Nord 2 will be a major point of interest for the device. The new product will officially debut in late July, so we’ll see what happens.
