Xiaomi’s new Idea to Hide Front Camera
Under-screen lens technology will be seen in the wave of new machines in the second half of this year at the earliest, but it will only debut on some flagship models, and the early stage will have to face the problem of lower refresh rate or the lower resolution of the lens position, or unclear photos, so in addition to the under-screen lens, there are other ways to hide front camera?
Xiaomi has a new idea in this regard. According to the latest patent submitted by Xiaomi, Xiaomi plans to integrate the front lens into the ultra-narrow bezel on the top bezel, in the ultra-small hole to direct light to the internal front lens, to achieve the effect of front selfie-and framing, and in this workflow, the front lens screen is lossless, but also to bring the screen to the near full-screen experience.

The patent was filed by Xiaomi one year ago and was approved for inclusion by the European Patent Office and the US Patent and Trademark Office on June 2 and 3, respectively. The 14-page document, entitled “Camera lens behind a mobile terminal display connected to the front by a light guide,” describes a Xiaomi smartphone in which a selfie camera is incorporated into the screen bezel, which can be seen even with an ultra-narrow bezel to achieve this hidden lens-like effect.
In the case that the under-screen lens does not do 100% of the same experience as the punch screen, some products equipped with such front lens technology may also be a good idea.
