MediaTek Dimensity 900 Specifications
As per the previous prediction, MediaTek held an online media conference to officially launch its new mid-range 5G SoC product, the MediaTek Dimensity 900 which is based on a 6nm advanced process and features a hardware-grade 4K HDR video recording engine.
The Dimensity 900 can be seen as an iteration of the Dimensity 800 series to some extent, with more significant improvements in hardware and software, and is built using TSMC’s 6nm process. MediaTek Dimensity 900 specifications include: CPU part of the eight-core architecture, including two 2.4GHz A78 core and six 2.0GHz A55 core, the GPU model is Mali-G68 MC4, up to 120Hz refresh rate support. In addition, the Dimensity 900 is also integrated with MediaTek’s third-generation APU.
The third generation APU AI engine supports INT8, INT16, and FP16 computing precision to optimize the AI photo experience, including AI white balance, AI autofocus, and more.
HyperEngine gaming engine is also in, supporting advanced incoming calls without network 3.0, dual card parallelism for gaming calls, 5G high-speed mode, and super hotspot gaming mode.
Storage improvements are also evident in the Dimensity 900, with support for LPDDR5 memory and USF 3.1 flash memory, already on par with the flagship Dimensity 1200. In terms of connectivity, the baseband chip of the Dimensity 900 supports a Sub-6GHz full band and 5G dual-carrier aggregation, enabling up to 120MHz of spectrum bandwidth, as well as SA/NSA networking, 5G dual SIM dual standby, dual all-networking, and dual card VoNR services.
MediaTek’s own 5G UltraSave power-saving technology is not absent this time, claimed to be able to further reduce the power consumption of 5G communications. There is also 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi6, Bluetooth 5.2, and GNSS, which is the first time MediaTek has put Wi-Fi6 below the mid-range platform, which is a great help to popularize Wi-Fi6.
Nowadays, people’s reliance on cell phones is the highest in history, and during long periods of cell phone use, standby, calls, APP applications, and other common functions are highly dependent on cell phone communication, plus 5G is inherently a high power consumption communication technology, the power loss of 5G phones will be significantly accelerated.
MediaTek optimizes the power consumption from the underlying chip, and then with the whole machine tuning of cell phone manufacturers, it can finally make the cell phone terminals equipped with MediaTek 5G chips have more power-saving and long-lasting performance.
For photography, the Dimensity 900 supports MediaTek Imagiq 5.0 image processing technology, offers a multi-core ISP and a hardware-level 4K HDR video recording engine, supports 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR), and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction (MFNR) technology, and supports up to 108-megapixel quad-camera combination.
The chip-level MiraVision image quality engine can naturally be a must, which can intelligently adjust the image quality of video streams, such as color, brightness, contrast, sharpness, dynamic range, etc. It can enhance SDR video content to a display effect close to HDR, and HDR 10 can be upgraded to close to HDR 10+, supporting and supporting HDR10+ video playback with real-time image quality enhancement.
The official said that the terminal device equipped with Dimensity 900 will be listed in the second quarter of this year, has been several manufacturers have opened the case, the relevant products should soon meet with us.
Overall, the release of the Dimensity 900 further consolidates MediaTek’s advantage in the mid-range product line, compared to competitors of the same level of products to specifications and process have more obvious advantages, so that we look forward to the arrival of terminal products.
