Performance of HarmonyOS 2.0 tested on Huawei Mate X2

Recently, Huawei’s Hongmeng 2.0 system has begun public testing, many users have signed up and received a push from Huawei, the system switched from Android-based custom EMUI 11 to Hongmeng OS 2.0 with beta status. Although some of the functional experience and Android 10-based EMUI11 are not very different, it seems to have brought us some different places.

For users, what will be the change of upgrading HarmonyOS? This issue is the most critical and most affects their daily use, from the existing feedback, smoothness, daily use no problem, and some people even feel that in some scenarios, its experience than the Android system is a little better.

Recently, famous Weibo blogger Digital Chat Station tested the performance of HarmonyOS 2.0 on the Huawei Mate X2 foldable flagship phone. According to him, Huawei Mate X2 system performance has been improved after updating HarmonyOS 2.0, for example, the overall running smoothness and stable version under King’s Glory extreme image quality and Peace Elite HDR anti-aliasing image quality are better than EMUI 11, and the power consumption is also lower.

In addition, by comparing the Mate40 Pro running ordinary EMUI 11 system, he found that the smoothness of the system and the speed of App opening and switching under HarmonyOS 2.0 are the same, which he said is Huawei’s choice to package the dual architecture of HarmonyOS and Android Open Source Platform (Android 10) together in consideration of system stability and compatibility, so the current Most of the Android App running environment in the phone is still Android, thus ensuring smoothness.

Note: some users feedback that the HarmonyOS App suffix is Hap, which is different from Android apk, but at present, there are very few Hongmeng apps.

It’s worth mentioning that Digital Chat Station also made it clear that more new apps compiled based on HarmonyOS are already in beta testing, so you should be able to see more apps adapted to HarmonyOS before the consumer version arrives.

Previously, Huawei has explained the difference between HarmonyOS and other cell phone systems, saying that HarmonyOS is not a replacement for Android or a copy of iOS, the real development is started in May 2016 Huawei has been doing it for 5 years, the positioning of HarmonyOS is the operating system of the era of Internet of everything.
