Lu Weibing, general manager of the Redmi brand, announced in Beijing that Redmi is officially entering the gaming phone space, “making it a long-term strategy to be a professional gaming phone.” According to Lu, the three major pain points of today’s gaming phones are: too fancy, too heavy, too expensive, and forced to be relegated to a backup phone. The industry woes of gaming phones include great demand, very small scales, and very expensive. All mentioned problems, Redmi Gaming Phone may solve.

The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition features a 6.67-inch OLED flexible central perforated straight screen with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 and supports a high refresh rate of 120Hz and an ultra-high touch sampling rate of 480Hz for three fingers. In addition, this screen also supports a 1.07 billion color display and super-resolution touch technology, which can improve the operation accuracy in games by 660% and bring a smoother gaming experience.

Although it is a straight screen, the K40 Gaming Edition uses a flexible screen and COP packaging process to narrow the bezel and chin of the phone, with the lower bezel being 2.7mm and the other three bezels all being 1.8mm equal in width.

In terms of cameras, the K40 Gaming Edition features a triple camera combination, with three lenses of 64MP main camera + 8MP super wide-angle + 2MP macro, and a 16MP selfie camera on the front. The K40 Gaming Edition also features the industry’s first ED ultra-low dispersion optical glass lens, bringing a flagship-level ultra-clear triple camera effect.

The Redmi K40 is equipped with MediaTek’s flagship processor this year: the Dimensity 1200, which uses a new generation of A78 architecture, with a 22% increase in performance and a 25% reduction in power consumption, 6nm process + integrated 5G baseband, ensuring an excellent balance of power consumption.

As a gaming phone, Redmi K40 Gaming Edition also brings pop-up magnetic power shoulder key design, which allows players to bring in the game like a gamepad with excellent control, the system settings support unlimited custom play, and now certified to support up to 100 mainstream games, and the keys can reach 1.5 million presses quality assurance, not afraid of falling, not afraid of water

The battery and the size of the phone, the battery capacity of the machine is 5065mAh, support 67W flash charging, which is also the largest charging power of Redmi’s current phone, the phone thickness is 8.3mm, weight is 205g, metal body, support multi-functional NFC “super door card”, support IP53 level waterproof, support infrared, factory equipped with MIUI 12.5 stable version.

In addition, because of the special positioning of the game phone, K40 Gaming Edition also uses the use of Redmi’s exclusive cooling technology, the first boron nitride cooling material, to solve the contradiction between 5G signal and heat dissipation, 11540mm² aerospace composite cooling film full coverage, so that the body temperature straight down 2℃.

There is no shortage of audio either. Redmi has joined forces with JBL, the world’s top speaker group brand, to create a top-notch dual speaker made for gaming, with JBL gaming stereo, closed dual independent large sound cavity structure, dual speakers designed for gaming + 3MIC, horizontal grip without blocking, Dolby Atmos + Hi-Res dual gold standard, sound quality certification grand slam, and MI Sound algorithm support, providing perfect sound quality.
