Huawei Kirin 990A Chip
Outside of Smartphones, wearables, televisions, and computers, Qualcomm, Intel, Samsung, and other manufacturers have long set their sights on the vast new energy vehicle industry and explored offering their talents in autonomous driving, car systems, and other areas. Huawei also made up its mind to serve car companies to build a good car and force to empower autonomous driving.
Recently, BAIC pure electric car brand ARCFOX Polar fox held a conference, officially released intelligent luxury pure electric car Alfa S. The car is equipped with Huawei’s HarmonyOS intelligent connected cockpit, cockpit equipped with Kirin 990A chip, with 3.5TOPs computing power, support 5G network connection.
With 3.5TOPs of computing power and support for 5G network connectivity, the Huawei Kirin 990A chip is equipped with Huawei’s self-researched Tarzan v120 architecture, Huawei’s Tarzan architecture was previously commonly used in server chips, this time equipped with Kirin 990A which is Huawei’s first actual car chip.

The specifications of Kirin 990A, the chip’s large core is Tarzan V120 Lite, the small core is Cortex-A55, and the GPU is Mali G76, but did not reveal the process. Besides Huawei also added Da Vinci architecture arithmetic chips are 2 D110 Tiny and 1 D100 lite.
After Huawei was sanctioned, all is done from the bottom foundation, the key core technology as much as possible to control in their own hands, the chip can achieve pure domestic production.
It also stressed that there are many differences between the car chip and the cell phone side, for the process flow and the number of cores stacked in a completely different way. Kirin 990A will allegedly be the host chip for Huawei’s car system, which is completely sufficient for at least 2 years.
