DJI Air 2s Vs DJI Mavic Air 2
On the evening of April 15, DJI officially released the DJI Air 2S drone. However, you should know that the standard version of DJI Mavic Air 2 is priced at 799 USD, and this upgraded version directly DJI Air 2s increases the price by 999 USD, what are the upgrades in the end? Is it more fragrant? Let’s take a look together.
This new product upgrades the camera to 1-inch 20 megapixel large bottom CMOS, with a single-pixel size of 2.4μm, and supports up to 5.4K (5472×3078) 30fps video shooting. Besides, it also supports 4K/60fps and 1080P/120fps video recording and provides H.264 and H.265 encoding with a maximum of 150Mbps. It supports a 10-bit Dlog-M mode, which can record up to 1 billion colors while retaining more bright and dark details. It can also take RAW format photos with up to 12.6 stops of dynamic range.
DJI Air 2S:
While DJI Mavic Air is equipped with a 1/2-inch sensor with 48 megapixels, which can provide full-size or 12-megapixel output. At 12 megapixels, the single-pixel size is 1.6um, and at 48 megapixels, the single-pixel At 48 megapixels, the individual pixel size is 0.8um.
Drones often encounter scenes with large differences in light and darkness when flying at high altitudes, making the finished film easy to overexpose or underexpose. In this regard, DJI Air 2S adds intelligent HDR stacking technology, which can fuse multiple continuous photos and significantly improve the dynamic range of the direct image, so that even without post-processing, it can produce moving light and shadow.
With the legendary big bottom, the DJI Air 2S has increased its maximum viewing angle doubled, which can bring significant improvement to the aerial photography effect, especially the increase of light-sensitive area, which will qualitatively improve the night shooting.
For video recording, DJI Air 2S supports up to 5.4K/30FPS recording, and also can support 4K/60FPS recording. The DJI Mavic Air 2 only supports up to 4K/60FPS recordings. The digital zoom has also been improved exponentially, from 4x on the DJI Mavic Air 2 to 8x.
Mavic Air 2:
In terms of obstacle avoidance, DJI Mavic Air 2 only has lower, front, and rear obstacle avoidance, while DJI Air 2S also adds upper obstacle avoidance. The DJI Air 2S also has a built-in ADS-B receiver, which automatically prompts for avoidance when a manned aircraft appears in the nearby airspace to guard flight safety.
In terms of map transmission, it adopts 4 dual-band antennas, adaptive 2.4G/5.8GHz, the farthest map transmission distance has been increased from 10km to 12km, and the clarity of map transmission can reach 1080P.
To sum up, this time DJI Air 2S has further improvement in image, obstacle avoidance, and map transmission, especially the addition of a 1-inch sensor, the image has a qualitative leap, and it is not a simple upgrade. It still has a foldable design and its weight has increased from 570g of DJI Mavic Air 2 to 595g, and the range has dropped from 34 minutes to 31 minutes.
