Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G Specifications
After the completion of the release of high-end chips, the next product line to be laid out is the mid-range products. A new chip of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series was leaked today – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G 5G.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G follows the features of the current flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset, with the new 780G also featuring a 5nm process. It comes with an octa-core CPU, including two ARM Cortex-A78 cores (Kryo 670 Gold large cores) clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores (Kryo 670 Silver small cores) clocked at 1.8GHz. LPDDR4 memory is supported. It is reported that Samsung will manufacture new Qualcomm chips.
Snapdragon 780G is equipped with Adreno 642 GPU and its graphics driver supports OTA updates. This is good news for gaming enthusiasts as the GPU will provide true 10bit HDR resolution during gameplay. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G is the first 7 series processor to receive the Spectra 570 image signal processor (ISP). The ISP can support three different cameras at the same time. The chipset enables better photo quality in low-light conditions and allows video recording in HDR 10+ and 4K HDR resolution.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G uses a Snapdragon X53 modem to provide 5G connectivity. The modem can reach 3Gbps download speeds on sub-6 GHz networks. Like the top-end Snapdragon 888, it also supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi 6E, thanks to the FastConnect 6900.
As for which phone will be equipped, which product will debut, this will have to wait until the second quarter of this year, but look at the calendar, the second quarter is also 6 days after the matter. While the Mi 11 Lite is most likely to host this new SoC.
