Redmi K40 Audio – Hi-Res and Dolby Atmos Certification (All Hi-Res Double Gold Standard Certification)

Today, Redmi’s official microblogging announced that it will release the Redmi K40 sound quality of the whole series levels up, support Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio. The K40 series phones have Dolby Atmos certification, which eliminates crosstalk and simulates spatial surround sound. Besides, Redmi K40 series phones have been certified with Hi-Res high-resolution sound quality and Hi-Res high-resolution wireless audio.

The standard was initiated by Sony and recognized by the Japan Audio Association, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the Digital Entertainment Group (DEG), and major record labels and recording companies. The standard requires audio files to exceed the specifications of CD sound quality, such as 24bit/192kHz; the parameters of audio playback equipment also need to meet certain requirements.

From gaming masterpieces to blockbuster movies, from high-end cinemas to home theaters, the name often comes up behind the shocking audio and visuals. Now, with the Redmi K40, this technology is equipped with built-in stereo speakers, and the sound can be felt from all directions with a sense of space.

This afternoon, the Redmi Mobile official also brought the Redmi K40 series Dolby Atmos technology principle introduction, high-end sound technology needs to start from the psychology of research and development, dual-speaker but the sound can produce a sense of surround sound in all directions.

The article points out that with Dolby Atmos, any kind of sound can be rendered as a single audio element – an audio object separate from the rest of the track. Whether it’s a child screaming, a helicopter taking off, or a car honking, content creators can determine exactly where the sound effects are coming from and where they should move as the episode progresses. Audio objects can be placed or moved anywhere in three-dimensional space, including anywhere above.

Most headphones and built-in speakers for mobile devices are left and right channels. To create realistic height and surround sound perception, a two-channel mobile system should first have a head-related transport function (HRTF). HRTF describes the way incoming sound sources from different locations around us reach our ears.

Depending on where the sound is emitted, one ear may lag slightly behind the other in perceiving the sound, and each ear may perceive the quality of the sound slightly differently (e.g., softer or less clear). These differences result from interference from the listener’s head, torso, and outer ear. The brain instantly processes such differences as spatial information, giving us a three-dimensional sense of hearing, and HRTF can mathematically render the same differences.

Streaming Dolby Atmos mixes support up to 128 simultaneous audio objects and contain metadata to describe each object’s position in space. Dolby Atmos processors on mobile devices can apply multiple HRTFs to this metadata to reproduce this spatial information in the stereo signal. When listened to through headphones, the stereo track accurately simulates theater sound (including overhead sound), creating an exciting and spatial experience.

Additional processing is required to reproduce the same experience through the device’s built-in speakers. Speakers create a natural “crosstalk” in our ears, which is not conducive to simulating multiple channels. Dolby Atmos processors eliminate this crosstalk and then apply HRTF to produce a multi-dimensional sound field and movement of audio objects.

Besides the exceptional sound quality, officials also said that the Redmi K40 will be the first straight-screen flagship with an E4 OLED screen, with a 120Hz refresh rate screen as standard across the lineup, and what could be the world’s smallest punch-hole camera in the K40 series.
