The analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple will release an augmented reality device this year, which will be available in the first quarter of 2022. The headset is expected to cost around $3,000, competing with products like Microsoft’s HoloLens 2, which is priced at $3,500.

Apple Mixed Reality headset is said to contain two 8K ultra-high-resolution displays and advanced eye-tracking technology. Because the device is too compact for users to wear glasses, Apple has developed a system that allows for custom prescription lenses to be inserted above the head-mounted display.

As a virtual reality-based device, it will display an all-encompassing three-dimensional digital environment for gaming, watching the video, and communicating. The AR function, the ability to superimpose images and information on a view of the real world, will be more limited.

Recently, designer Antonio De Rosa has produced 3D renders of Apple’s long-rumored mixed reality headset based on recent reports of Apple’s mixed reality headset, giving us the first look at the photo effects of the mysterious Apple device.

Antonio has tentatively named Apple’s mixed reality headset “Apple View,” and what Apple might name the device remains pure speculation. However, in terms of design, the rendering appears to have carefully considered many of the points raised by recent reports about the device.

The main inspiration for the renders is apparently the basic sketches provided by the Information, which said they saw images of Apple internals of a “late prototype” late last year. If the images seen by the Information are correct, De Rosa’s renders may provide the most reliable design of Apple’s mixed reality headset to date.

The Information describes the headset’s design as a “sleek, curved display attached to the face via a mesh material and interchangeable headband.” The report says the headband will be available in a variety of colors, which De Rosa has rendered. Headbands that include batteries to extend the battery life of the headphones, as well as headbands with speakers and spatial audio for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max are also believed to be in testing.

The Information also says that Apple MR headset will feature more than a dozen cameras, and JP Morgan speculates that the device will include various LIDAR scanners, just like the iPad Pro or iPhone 12 Pro. De Rosa appears to have included these in his renders.

While these cameras and scanners are thought to be used to track the user’s hand movements, it is understood that one of the main features of the headset will be the ability to display real-world video to the user through the display, creating a “mixed reality effect”.
