Sony Airpeak Drone Demonstration
Last year in November, Sony registered for ‘Airpeak‘ brand name for drone technology development. Now at CES 2021, Sony showcases the Airpeak drone. Sony launched its first drone aerial photography equipment – Sony Airpeak Drone at CES 2021, through which Sony officially entered the field of drone market.
It is reported that the Airpeak drone is the smallest drone capable of carrying an Alpha camera, which can be used for professional photography and video content production. As seen in Sony’s Airpeak promotional video, the drone has a quadrotor design with two landing gears, which can be retracted upward during the flight to avoid affecting the filming effect.
Sony says it is committed to contributing to further advancement and creating unprecedented new value through the application of imaging/sensing technology, and 3R technology (Reality, Real-time, and Remote) in the drone space.
Sony launched the Airpeak brand intending to further develop today’s drone technology while achieving the utmost in value creation. As the first phase of this project, Sony will launch a new business targeted for professional photography and video production in the spring of 2021. To fully support the creativity of video creators, the payload of the drone can be equipped with an Alpha™ mirrorless camera to capture high quality, full-frame aerial photography and video. Airpeak, the industry’s smallest class of drone that can be equipped with the Alpha system, is capable of dynamic filming and precise, stable flight, and aims to contribute to the world of entertainment while also pursuing new possibilities for creative expression.

It is understood that the Airpeak drone will be available in the spring of this year, the price and configuration are not yet known, the follow-up information will continue to track. Although Sony is new in the field of drones, relying on its powerful camera imaging system, the official launch of Airpeak will certainly cause a new race in the field of professional drones.
