Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G Introduction
If it is said that 2021 will be the year of the real popularity of 5G, I believe we will not object, and a new technology to be popular, low cost and low price but the experience can not compromise too much new platform is essential. Today, Qualcomm officially released a new generation of Snapdragon 480 mobile platform, which is the first time the Snapdragon 4 series support 5G, the mission is to completely popularize 5G.

“Qualcomm Technologies continues to accelerate 5G commercialization globally to make 5G smartphones more accessible, especially as people worldwide continue to connect remotely. The Snapdragon 480 5G Mobile Platform will exceed OEM’s and consumer’s expectations in delivering high- and mid-tier features at an affordable price.” said Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G feature
5G and connectivity:
The Snapdragon 480 features the Snapdragon X51 5G modem and RF system, which supports millimetre wave and Sub-6GHz 5G connectivity, standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) networking modes, and TDD, FDD and dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) for a great mobile performance and connectivity experience. Snapdragon X51 supports gigabits of 5G connectivity for ultra-high upload and download speeds, and multi-band support for increased flexibility and availability. With the Qualcomm FastConnect 6200 mobile connectivity subsystem, the Snapdragon 480 not only delivers Bluetooth 5.1 and advanced wireless audio features, but also supports some of the key Wi-Fi 6 features such as 2×2 Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi dual antennas) and 8×8 detection with MU-MIMO for significantly improved transmission range and performance. The Snapdragon 480 also introduces other innovative wireless technologies, including support for dual-band GPS and NavIC for accurate positioning.
Performance and battery life:
The Snapdragon 480 enables smartphone users to stay productive longer and charge their devices more quickly. Powered by an 8nm process and featuring a 2.0GHz Qualcomm Kryo 460 CPU, Qualcomm Adreno 619 GPU and Qualcomm Hexagon 686 processor, the platform delivers up to 100 percent better CPU and GPU performance and up to 70 percent better AI performance than its predecessor (Snapdragon 460). The Snapdragon 480 is also the first Snapdragon 4 Series platform to support Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.
Imaging:
With Qualcomm Spectra 345 ISP, the platform enables triple ISP support for the first time in the Snapdragon 4 Series, enabling excellent photo and video capture with three cameras shooting simultaneously. Triple 13MP photo capture enables simultaneous image output with ultra-wide, wide-angle and telephoto cameras, or capture three 720p videos at the same time.
Entertainment:
The Snapdragon 480 enhances the user experience in streaming and gaming. Its supported 120Hz FHD+ display delivers great content clarity and fast, smooth graphics rendering speeds. The platform delivers an all-around immersive entertainment experience with Qualcomm aptX audio technology, experience optimisation for popular gaming titles, seamless HD content streaming and faster app load times.
